Armed with a strong foundation in Economics and Data Science, Sivanesh joined NETS as a Business Insights and Planning intern in the fast-evolving fintech sector.
Given Trust and Room to Grow
Here at NETS, Sivanesh was encouraged to look beyond dashboards and reports to understand the business, its operating model, and strategic priorities. Rather than being limited to typical intern responsibilities, he gained exposure to stakeholders and projects across the organisation.
“Being in Business Insights and Planning gave me opportunities to engage with stakeholders across different functions. It helped me connect the dots and see how analysis influenced decision-making and shaped the direction of projects.”
From day one, he was entrusted with meaningful responsibilities and given the autonomy to solve problems independently. Starting with dashboards and reporting tools, he developed a strong understanding of business priorities, performance metrics, and how data supports strategic decisions.
As his confidence grew, he took on increasingly complex projects, applying analytical thinking to challenges with tangible business impact.
Creating Impact Through Data
One of Sivanesh’s most rewarding projects involved collaborating with the Growth and Network Expansion team. Using data-driven insights, he helped identify key customer segments to retain and opportunities for targeted investment to drive future growth.
“The recommendations we developed influenced how the business prioritises market opportunities and customer segments. Knowing that my work contributed to decisions shaping the future direction of the business was incredibly rewarding.”
The experience reinforced his view of analytics as not just a reporting function, but a driver of business strategy.

Beyond the work itself, Sivanesh was most impressed by NETS’ inclusive and supportive culture.
“People treated me as an equal. They respected my ideas and took my work seriously, regardless of my title. Whenever I had questions, they took the time to explain things. That support accelerated my learning tremendously.”
Through daily interactions, team activities, and even a team trip to Chiang Mai, he built meaningful connections across the organisation.
“The culture here is very inclusive. I never felt like ‘just an intern’. I felt like I belonged.”
Continuing the Journey
After completing his six-month internship, Sivanesh chose to continue his journey with NETS as a full-time employee.
“I’m certain that I want to build my career in payments and fintech. The industry is constantly evolving, and there’s always something new to learn. NETS has given me opportunities to make meaningful contributions while continuing to grow professionally. That’s why I’m excited to build my career here.”
