Standalone OCBC Pay Anyone App Launched In ‘War On Cash’

OCBC Bank has declared “a war on cash” today by launching its first standalone mobile payments app that makes QR code payments available at about 2,500 NETS terminals. With the OCBC Pay Anyone app, customers can simply scan QR codes at participating merchants’ NETS terminals to pay for their purchases directly from their OCBC Bank accounts. Authentication of the transactions will be done through fingerprint recognition, completing their payments securely.

From 1 June 2017, OCBC Bank customers make cashless payments for purchases at more than 1,000 merchants in Singapore, including Robinsons, Zara, Marks & Spencer, Gap, Paradise Classic restaurants, Caltex stations and Gardens by the Bay by scanning the QR codes on the NETS terminals or on the printed receipts using the OCBC Pay Anyone app.

The network of acceptance points for QR code payments will expand to 50,000 NETS terminals island-wide by the end of the year.
