As of March 2017, 1 in 5 food and beverage outlets in Singapore (or about 1,400 establishments) have adopted digital solutions to improve their productivity. The government aims to increase this figure to 50 per cent by 2020.
One of the challenges that affect the adoption of digital technologies is the issue of interoperability. To deliver greater convenience in payments, the Monetary Authority of Singapore and other agencies are working with payment service providers such as NETS to make essential payment modes available in a single device.
One such single terminal solution is the NETS Unified POS system, which supports a comprehensive range of payment modes – NETS, NETS FlashPay, Apple Pay, Android Pay, Samsung Pay, UOB Mighty Pay, in addition to credit and debit cards.
With just a single terminal solution, customers can now look forward to a faster and easier e-payment process. It is changing the payment experience in Singapore to one that has the most direct interaction with consumers via a simple ‘one terminal, one interface’ experience.
