NETS Rewards NETS FlashPay User With A Condominium

Contactless payment solution continues to gain widerconsumer acceptance and traction in Singapore

Singapore — NETS, Singapore’s leading payment solutions company, rewarded five winners, with one walking away with the grand prize of a condominium unit, for using and accepting FlashPay as a simple, efficient and convenient choice for everyday payments.

The “Win-a-Condo Draw" campaign aimed to deliver greater value to Singaporeans in the ways they pay, thereby helping them to live smarter and making it more rewarding to use FlashPay in their daily lives. In today's prize giving event, one FlashPay cardholder walked away with a condominium unit at Stratum located in Pasir Ris, on top of $1,000 in cash prize. A second FlashPay user won $1,000 in cash.

The draw was launched on 7 August 2014 and ran till 31 December 2015. Held as part of FlashPay's 5th anniversary, consumers who used their FlashPay for payments outside of transit points were eligible for the lucky draw. Participation was automatic as long as there was a valid FlashPay payment transaction, with no registration or minimum spending required.

NETS CEO Jeffrey Goh said: “With 7.3 million FlashPay cards in circulation today, FlashPay is Singapore’s preferred transit card for making everyday small value payments. The key reason for FlashPay’s rapid proliferation is that it is convenient and easy to use at just about every point that requires a small transaction payment, from transit to retail to food and beverage, just like the Octopus card in Hong Kong.”

The remaining three winners are merchants who accepted FlashPay payments during the campaign period. This was an incentive programme open to all Comfort & CityCab, SMRT taxi drivers and hawker stall owners to encourage them to reduce cash transactions and to accept FlashPay payments instead. The merchants were awarded with the top three prizes of $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000 in cash.

In recognising the winners, NETS said that such efforts lie at the heart of the company's vision of propelling Singapore towards a cashless society where more consumers embrace electronic payments.

FlashPay is accepted across a network of over 100,000 points. This includes transit, major retailers, food courts, convenience stores, supermarkets, etc. It is also used on all MRT/LRT, public buses, Comfort & CityCab and SMRT taxis as well as for ERP and CEPAS-compliant car park charges.

The computerised lucky draw was conducted and witnessed by an external auditor.
