NETS LAUNCHES LIMITED EDITION CASHCARDS DESIGNED BY DISADVANTAGED ARTISTS

Customers can get these specially designed NETS CashCards island-wide from 25 Oct onwards.

Singapore, Saturday, 25 October 2008 – Singapore’s leading electronic payments provider, NETS announced that the latest limited edition of NETS CashCards, specially designed by SIP’s Pop & Talent Hub (PaTH) artists will be available to public from 25 October onwards.

The batch of six specially themed NETS CashCards are a part of NETS’ “Connecting Talents Transforming Lives” programme, which furthers its commitment to give back to society by supporting social entrepreneurship and helping disadvantaged groups develop self-sufficiency skills through entrepreneurship.

NETS’ active volunteerism through SIP and “Pop and Talent Hub” (PaTH) Project to provide an avenue to help them develop self esteem and social confidence to return to a normal life and make a living stem from its corporate goal of providing equal employment.

NETS’ CEO, Ms Poh Mui Hoon, said, “NETS is proud of this endeavour and has integrated social entrepreneurship as a part of its corporate philosophy. We encourage every Singaporean to patronise these artworks as a sign of encouraging the creative talents and doing their part of being socially conscious.”

Regardless of their physical and intellectual disabilities, the talents have been able to display their creativity on canvas to bring forth new dimensions to life. One of the paintings that adorns the NETS CashCard is Lee Siang Cheit’s ‘Signing with Love’. Mr Lee, a deaf at birth, has reflected his concentration, intensity and inner strength to bring about beauty in his paintings.

Similarly, a sufferer of bipolar disorder, Darren Lauchengco has turned his lifelong ailment into artwork such as ‘The Endless Beginning’, which conveys a depth of emotion and the journey of his life.

The other two artworks which are featured are ‘Singapore Night’ by Ng Siang Hoi; and ‘Rendezvouz’ by Mdm Teo Chor Sang. Speaking of the opportunity, Mdm Teo, a retired teacher and a deaf at birth, said, “We are thrilled to be a part of this event and feel very privileged to have received the NETS CashCard as a platform to showcase our talent. I hope people like the artworks and help boost our confidence.”

“We are happy that the creative talents from PaTH have got a commercial platform to materialize their dreams and showcase their artworks in the mainstream. We thank NETS for providing them with this meaningful opportunity which they can showcase their artist talent to the world,” said SIP Director, Ms Elim Chew.

By embarking on such an initiative, NETS has proven that it is not just an utility card, but a card with a social purpose. As Singapore’s leading electronic payments provider, NETS deems it vital to maintain an active role in society and across all walks of life.

Customers can buy the first design “Signing with Love” immediately from NETS office at Central Plaza and from 1 Nov onwards, customers can pick it up from the 10 assured stores from Cheers and 7-11. All 4 designs will be available island-wide from 1 Dec 2008 at all Cheers and 7-11 outlets.
