Great fun for families at the largest and most fun family event of the year
1 Sep 2005

Family Festival 2005, back for the second year, promises to be the largest and most fun family event of the year. Spanning 15,000 sq metres over two halls - 5 and 6A - at Singapore Expo, the 3-day event is set to take place from 18 - 20 November. It is expected to attract over 300 exhibitors and some 150,000 family visitors.

WThe Festival was launched last year in November as part of the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports' (MCYS) year-long celebration of the 10th anniversary of the International Year of the Family, a UN designated world event that is observed globally.

"This year's event is presented by NETS Rewards, and supported by Family Matters! Singapore and the Singapore Sports Council. The official sponsors are Konica Minolta, NTUC FairPrice and Renault, who have returned to support Family Festival for the second year running.

"NETS Rewards is delighted to be the main presenter at this year's Family Festival. More than just a fun-filled event, Family Festival offers something for the whole family, whether it's games and sports for the young ones, or educational seminars and exhibitions for adults.

At the event, NETS is providing all exhibitors with NETS terminals so that NETS and CashCard can be the main form of payment at the Family Festival. In addition, NETS Rewards members can earn and redeem their NETS Rewards points for Family Dollars when they purchase selected goods and services at the Family Festival. In essence, we are making life easier for everybody with merchants reaping the benefits of cashless payments and visitors enjoying their shopping, eating, learning and playing at the Festival to their hearts' content!" said Irene Lim, Head of Customer Marketing and Communications, NETS.

"We hit on a successful formula last year, where for the first time, Singaporeans could strengthen their family ties by having fun together at Family Festival where they can shop, eat, learn and play. This year, we are introducing several special features to allow families to have more fun together!" said Mr Ed Ng, President of Reed Exhibitions Singapore and Malaysia.

These special features include; "Tree Top House", an indoor tree house for families to visit and play, a first of its kind in Singapore; "Sports Arena", an open concept thematic 'mini-stadium' to showcase sports demonstrations and min-sport competitions, sports products and services presented by the Singapore Sports Council; "Pets Kingdom", a showcase of pets products and services; "Gaming Galaxy", a showcase of the latest, interactive gaming platforms such as X-box, Nintendo, PC; and "Baby Boom", a showcase of the different stages of a baby's lifecycle from pregnancy to age 2.

Visitors can look forward to a series of family-centered talks put together by Family Matters! Singapore to encourage stronger family ties through participation in family togetherness activities.

At the Festival, families can enjoy themselves together under one roof in an experiential and carnival-like atmosphere. Visitors can expect to find an all-inclusive variety of products and services including consumer electronics; home décor; educational and learning products and services; children products and services; sports and wellness products and services; food; and financial management and investment planning.

Visitors also stand a chance to win the top prize of a Renault Megan Sports Tourer worth S$55,000 in the Grand Lucky Draw at Family Festival, sponsored by Renault.
