FAQs for SingTel-NETS Mobile Payments Trial Users
1. What is the SingTel – NETS Mobile Payments trial about?
This trial gives you an opportunity to use this new technology to make payments using the mNETS Wallet at participating merchants that you are familiar with. You can make payments for goods and services just by flashing the NFC-enabled phone at the NETS FlashPay contactless readers at participating shops. The phone will act as a stored value card for you to make payments.

For added convenience, you can top up your stored value anytime via the phone safely and securely.

2. What is mNETS?
mNETS is a new service that NETS is offering on the mobile platform to benefit consumers and merchants. There will be many innovative consumer and merchant services to be introduced soon, but NETS will first launch the mNETS Wallet and mNETS Coupon as a trial.

The technology, which transforms your NFC-enabled phone into a mNETS Wallet, is known as Near Field Communications (NFC). Making a payment is as simple as flashing your NFC-enabled phone on a NETS FlashPay contactless terminal. A mNETS Wallet is installed on your NED-enabled phone that stores electronic cash. mNETS Coupons offer consumers discounts, promotions and other privileges at participating merchants. These coupons can be downloaded into your mobile phone.

3. What is NFC?
NFC stands for Near Field Communication, which is a combination of identification and wireless technologies, that enables two electronic devices to communicate and exchange data. The NFC-enabled phone being used in this trial uses this technology to communicate to the readers at the retail shops to make payments.

4. What are the applications made possible by NFC?
NFC can be used to enable NETS FlashPay contactless payments at the retail point-of-sale. This requires an NFC-enabled device such as a mobile phone, and a reader cum terminal at the retailer that can communicate with the device.

NFC can also be used in posters that can send electronic coupons known as mNETS Coupons to NFC-enabled mobile phones held within close proximity. These let you enjoy discounts, promotions and other privileges at participating merchants.

You need to download an mNETS software application onto your compatible NFC-enabled mobile phones. You can then start to make mNETS transactions, using your NFC-enabled mobile phones, at participating retailers.
